Spring is here, and with it comes an exciting time of growth! Some of our work for this year was shared at our Celebrating Schools Board Meeting. This week’s message is about independence. We are beginning to see students transfer the skills they’ve been learning into greater independence and confidence. This is such an important milestone, and we are proud of their progress.
We encourage you to support this at home by inviting your child to show what they’ve learned and take on more responsibility. Here are a few simple ways to help:
- Ask your child to teach you something they’ve learned at school (a strategy, concept, or routine)
- Encourage them to complete a task independently, such as homework, organizing their backpack, or following a routine
- Give them opportunities to take on small responsibilities, like helping with chores or making simple decisions
