Hello Wildcats,
We had a great turn out at our first parent workshop this week! You can view presentation slides if you weren’t able to attend. As we continue to offer ongoing Parent University Workshops to learn together, we hope to see you at our March Parent University Workshop #2 on March 26, focused on SBAC/CAASPP state testing. Families in grades 3-5 will learn what the State CAASPP /SBAC assessments measure, how students prepare during the school day, and simple ways you can support learning at home. You may hear the terms CAASPP and SBAC used interchangeably, so here is a simple explanation. In short, SBAC is the test, and CAASPP is the statewide system that includes the SBAC assessments.
The state test will assess students in English Language Arts and Mathematics, helping us measure growth in critical thinking, problem-solving, reading, and writing skills. During our workshop, we will:
- Review what students can expect during testing
- Share practice resources you can use at home
- Provide tips to reduce test anxiety
- Answer your questions about scores and reports
Please also mark your calendar to join us for Open House on March 11 from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm for Open House. In addition to visiting classrooms, we will host a schoolwide Title I information session, where I will share how Title I funding supports our students and school programs.
Your partnership makes a difference. When families and schools work together, students thrive. We look forward to seeing you on March 11!
Also, in honor of Black History Month, we continue to highlight the important contributions of the Black community and celebrate leaders whose impact continues to shape our world. We are also proud to spotlight our students of African American descent.
